Zambia Forum Development (ZFD) – Building a Resilient and Diversified Economy
The Zambian Forum for Development (ZFD) is the culmination of many years of
work advancing how Zambia can be transformed and has been established as a
charitable endeavour to plan for the transformation of Zambia, which has been long-awaited.
ZFD has brought together a team of highly skilled professionals with diverse expertise across economics, infrastructure, energy, finance, agriculture, mining and governance to design and implement a transformative plan for Zambia’s development. Our vision is to unlock the country’s full potential by leveraging its vast domestic resources to mobilize billions in investment required to drive inclusive growth and sustainable economic transformation.
At the heart of this plan are comprehensive national reform —targeting both the primary and financial sectors—to ensure Zambia transitions from a resource- dependent economy to one that is dynamic, diversified, and globally competitive.
Primary Sector Reforms
ZFD is focused on plans that modernize agriculture, mining, and manufacturing to expand Zambia’s export base and strengthen its value chains. This includes promoting industrialization, agro-processing, renewable energy, and mineral beneficiation to create jobs, raise incomes, and reduce dependency on raw commodity exports.
Financial Sector Reforms
Our plans include strategies for broadening Zambia’s financing base by deepening capital markets, strengthening public–private partnerships (PPPs), and attracting both domestic and international investors. We aim to see the development of innovative financing mechanisms—such as sovereign wealth funds, infrastructure bonds, and green finance instruments—to fund large-scale projects that will redefine Zambia’s economic landscape.
Through these efforts, ZFD seeks to position Zambia as a regional hub for trade, investment, and innovation, while ensuring that growth is inclusive, sustainable, and aligned with the aspirations of all Zambians.

A Message From Our Founder
‘For too long, Zambia has been a nation of unfulfilled potential, at a tipping point where decades of economic stagnation and endemic poverty have held back a country filled with immense promise. While nations once our peers have seen their economies grow ten to twenty times over the last 50 years, ours has barely moved. This stagnation has created a country burdened by a lack of opportunity and high unemployment, especially among our youth. This is not our destiny. It is the direct result of a fundamental failure in leadership and a lack of a clear, actionable plan.
The time for transformation is now. I have a bold and audacious dream for our country: a dream to build a Zambia that is not merely surviving, but thriving—a proud, prosperous, and dynamic democracy with Africa’s leading public services. I am driven by the belief that together we can and will achieve this, elevating our nation to a high upper-middle- income country within a single generation. The growth it outlines will not be confined to a select few; it will be equitably distributed across every community, to the young and the old, to men and women, and to our rural and urban populations.
The Zambian Forum for Development has been built to advance the ideas, people and concrete plans that can bring about this change to Zambia’s economic transformation programmes.
