A National Development Plan

The ZFD under the leadership of Mr WJ Mudolo has built on nearly two decades of work to construct a comprehensive National Development Plan (NDP) for Zambia.

This plan aims to guide Zambia’s socio-economic growth, addressing several key areas of national development. By carefully reviewing Zambia’s governance from 1964 to 1991, from 1991 to 2011, and from 2011 to today, it has identified the root causes of stagnation and crafted a Solution Approach Model that will deliver the transformation Zambians have waited for. Full details of the plan are available at the forum. In summary the plan includes:

Economic Development:

The NDP outlines strategies to stimulate economic growth building on mining and diversifying the economy into agriculture, manufacturing, and services.

This includes promoting Foreign Direct Investment (FDI) and boosting domestic industries.

Infrastructure Development:

The NDP encompasses plans for improving and expanding the country’s infrastructure, focusing on road networks, power generation, and communication technologies to foster connectivity and growth.

Human Capital Development

The plan prioritises education and healthcare, with targeted strategies to increase school enrolment, improve educational outcomes, and boost healthcare access and quality.

Agricultural Transformation:

The NDP emphasises modernising and expanding Zambia’s agricultural sector, promoting sustainable farming practices, enhancing food security, and increasing agricultural exports.

Environmental Sustainability:

The plan also encompasses measures to combat climate change, protect Zambia’s biodiversity, and promote sustainable natural resource management.

Governance and Anti-Corruption:

The NDP promotes good governance, enhancing transparency, accountability, and the rule of law. The plan includes strategies for combating corruption and improving public service delivery.

Social Inclusion and Equity:

To ensure inclusive growth, the plan targets poverty reduction and improved living standards, with particular emphasis on vulnerable and marginalised populations.

Regional and International Cooperation:

The NDP also focuses on strengthening Zambia’s regional and international ties, promoting peaceful co-existence and trade cooperation for mutual development.

WJ Mudolo Foundation

Driving Change Across Zambia

The WJ Mudolo Foundation is a charitable investment initiative that focuses on a wide range of tangible initiatives in Zambia and across Africa. The foundation has partnered with the Zambia Forum for Development both to inspire the forums work and to draw lessons and know-how that it can take forward into the field.

From healthcare programs that save lives to scholarship schemes that open doors, and water and sanitation projects that protect communities from the threat of emerging epidemics, it is actively investing in the future of Zambian and the continent.

Investing in People, Not Just Projects

This is more than just an act of giving; it is a testament to a core belief that a nation’s true wealth is not measured in its resources, but in the health, education, and prosperity of its people.

The foundation believes in creating enduring, lasting changes that make communities self-sufficient in the long run. The Foundation also advocates for strong leadership and governance, with a particular focus on empowering women and youth to lead development.
